We are looking for a Product Engineer - Easy to Assemble that will be responsible for designing and developing innovative products that are easy to assemble and meet the highest safety standards.

This role is located in Foxboro, MA requiring 4 days a week in the office and remote work on Fridays.

Your mission

The Product Engineer - Ready to Assemble will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that products are designed for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

  • Create and review detailed 3D and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Understand system interactions and failure modes; participate in design reviews.
  • Assist in detailed design of components and sub-assemblies.
  • Manage technical specifications and product definitions.
  • Conduct DFMEA and GD&T analyses to ensure product quality and reliability.
  • Communicate ideas using sketches, CAD, 3D models, and prototypes
  • Perform consumer product testing to validate design concepts and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Gather and analyze Voice of the Customer (VOC) data to create comprehensive product requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, manufacturing, and quality assurance to drive projects to completion.
  • Manage project timelines and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Identify and develop new ideas, products, and features to improve customer satisfaction and reduce costs.
  • Define and maintain product requirements and verification plans to meet regulatory and internal standards.
  • Evaluate and test product prototypes for feasibility, user needs, and regulatory compliance in a regulated industry (ASTM, ISO, BIFMA).
  • Aid in the development and maintenance of regulatory and safety warnings and product protocols internally and at third-party testing labs.
  • Business travel as required including internationally.

Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field.
  • 5 plus years of product development experience, preferably in developing furniture that needs to be assembled by consumers.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software.
  • Strong understanding of DFMEA, GD&T, and product testing.
  • Experience with 3D and 2D drawings.
  • Leadership experience in managing engineering projects and teams.
  • Desirable : wood product design, manufacturing, injection mold plastic, and regulated industry experience (ASTM, ISO, BIFMA).
  • Knowledge of related ASTM / ANSI / BFMA standards that pertain to nursery and juvenile consumer products is a plus.
  • Experience writing design and product requirements and test methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
