The Pediatric Hospitalist Physician provides care for hospitalized children and newborns, performing daily rounds and being on call for 24 hours. Responsibilities include attending deliveries, managing a small patient census, and responding promptly to emergencies, while maintaining necessary certifications. Credentialing is required prior to start, along with orientation before the first shift.
- Physician required to come in and round, etc, then on call. Not required to stay in the hospital. Need as soon as we get credentialed; credentialing takes 6-8 weeks. Must come in the day before for orientation.
- Sunday-Sunday 7AM-7AM
- On call when arrive to when they leave
- 24 Hour Call
- Inpatient Only
- Not required to remain on site during call, but must be able to respond within 30 minutes
- Average Total Inpatient Census : 2
- Average # of patients / day / provider : 2
- Average # of admissions / day : 1
- Average # of admissions / night : 2
- 350 Deliveries yearly
- Avg Peds census is less than 1 per day
- NRP and PALS / APLS required
- No ICU / Critical Care Duties
- LT Responds to Codes
- LT expected to serve as back up in the ER
- 10% of visits become admissions
- 10 bed OB / GYN / Antepartum / Postpartum beds
- 3 Peds beds, 6 L&D beds, 13 Normal NB Cribs & 2 Level II NB beds
- Coverage of New born nursery, required to attend routine and scheduled C-sections, & deliveries
- Procedures required : umbilical lines, intubate, lumbar puncture, I&D
- EMR = EPIC (HealthSpan)
- REQUIREMENTS :
- NC licensed & DEA
- Will accept BC only physicians
- Must be PALS and NRP certified
