Range : $49,316 - $82,532 p / year, will depend on professional work experience, qualifications, and related legislative / government experience.

Range : $82,872.00 - $111,504.00 annually

Range : 4,299 - $4,605 per month, depending on experience and qualifications.

Range : $4,680 - $8,111 per month, based on relevant experience and qualifications.

The Division of Research for the Missouri Senate is seeking an attorney in a nonpartisan, fast-paced, multi-faceted legislative environment. This is a highly professional position working with members of the Missouri Senate at the State Capitol Building.

Responsibilities

• Draft legislation for the Missouri Senate, including bills, substitute bills and amendments.
• Staff committees of the Senate, interim committees, and Senate / House Joint committees with research and analysis of legislation and topics before the committees, and draft reports for committees as necessary.
• Staff the legislative sessions of the Missouri Senate by monitoring debate and providing requested changes / amendments to bills being debated on the floor of the Senate.
• Prepare summaries on legislation debated in the Senate.
• Review bills on matters of technical form. Assists Senate members with topical research on matters of public policy, prepare legal opinions, analyze legislative proposals, and develop policy alternatives.
• Assists members with constituent matters by obtaining information and drafting responses which require technical information.
• Monitors developments in public policy and develops skills relevant to the issue areas assigned to the staff attorney.
• Performs other related work as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Work at Missouri's State Capitol Building (12 additional staff members in the office).

Missouri state employee benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as state retirement. The position may qualify individuals for the provisions of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
