About The Position

Must-Have :

• Previous charge experience preferred
• Patient ratio experience required

Description :

The role involves providing care within the Labor and Delivery specialty.

Candidates are expected to follow established patient care standards.

The nurse will manage early labor and induction with a 1 : 2 patient ratio.

Active labor will require a 1 : 1 patient ratio.

Care during cesarean deliveries will also require a 1 : 1 patient ratio.

Triage responsibilities will involve a patient ratio of 1 : 4.

Post-partum care will follow a 1 : 4 patient ratio.

Required certifications include BLS and NRP.

Additional certifications related to AWHONN are essential.

Nurses will be responsible for administering medications and supporting high-risk deliveries.

Skills include the management of various anesthetics, postpartum care, and neonatal resuscitation.

The nurse will engage in patient education, including breastfeeding support and discharge teaching.

Preparation for emergencies and management of patient fluctuations will be essential.

Interdisciplinary support will be integral to patient care.

The unit will handle a varied daily census averaging 105 deliveries monthly.

Additional responsibilities may include participation in triage and antepartum testing.

The unit operates with various specialized care areas, including a special care nursery.

Nurses must be comfortable with floating as needed within the facility.

Compliance with continuing education and certification requirements will be expected.

Candidates must provide satisfactory professional references from previous employers.
