Position Overview :

The Senior Interior Designer plays a critical leadership role, balancing hands-on design with mentorship and team development. This role is responsible for leading design phases, ensuring creative excellence, and supporting the growth of junior designers. Reporting to the Studio Operations Director, the Senior Interior Designer collaborates with Project Managers and other studio leaders to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the firm’s high standards.

Roles and Responsibilities

Design Leadership

  • Lead and oversee all design phases for complex and large-scale projects, from concept to completion.
  • Develop innovative design solutions and ensure alignment with client goals, project budgets, and schedules.
  • Present design concepts to clients, incorporating feedback while maintaining creative integrity.
  • Oversee the selection and specification of finishes, furniture, and materials, ensuring adherence to design intent and quality standards.
  • Ensure all deliverables comply with technical, regulatory, and building code requirements.

Mentorship and Team Development

  • Mentor and guide Interior Designers (Levels I, II, III) to grow their technical and creative skills.
  • Conduct quarterly conversations with assigned team members, provide constructive feedback and setting professional growth goals.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative studio culture by sharing expertise and encouraging open communication.
  • Collaboration and Coordination

  • Partner with Project Managers to address project challenges, resolve conflicts, and ensure smooth workflows.
  • Collaborate with the Studio Operations Director to allocate resources and manage team assignments effectively.
  • Review and approve project documentation, ensuring consistency with design intent and compliance with industry standards.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of professional experience, including leadership on large-scale and complex projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Deep knowledge of building codes, accessibility standards, and industry regulations.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop teams.
  • NCIDQ certification preferred but not required.
