Job Title : Family Nurse Practitioner
Location : Dayton, OH 45417
Duration : 6 months to long term
Shifts : 8 : 30 AM 4 : 00 PM (40 hours weekly)
Facility : Dayton Correctional (DCI)
Job Duties :
- Monitors progress of and intervenes in the course of chronic illnesses, using ODRC policies and protocols for guidance.
- Inoculates or vaccinates against communicable diseases & prescribes medications or administers treatment of acute and chronically ill patients & performs minor surgery as training & competency allows.
- Performs routine physical exams of patients to determine control or status of chronic conditions & diagnoses new conditions.
- Evaluates patients for the necessity of specialty referral consultations inside or outside the institution & reviews said consult reports for the recommendations, approving or disapproving accordingly.
- Orders & reviews the results of laboratory, x-ray, & other diagnostic testing as appropriate.
- With the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), facilitates the completion of medical reclassification & requests for non-formulary medications as necessary.
- Performs routine & emergency medical care of patients as scheduled.
- Examines, diagnoses & treats patients within scope of practice, as identified by the State of Ohio Nursing Board, as applicable.
- Conducts rounds on infirmary patients as deemed appropriate by the CMO.
- Writes up medical information gathered during patient interviews according to ODRC Office of Correctional Healthcare guidelines, policies, protocols & related American Correctional Association standards currently in practice, documenting all assessments & diagnostic impressions, as well as any other treatment plans & follow-up parameters.
- Cooperates with CMO medical quality oversight & accept suggestions, redirection, and guidance.
Requirements :
1 + years NP experience in a primary care setting or hospital medicine (not urgent care)Active Nurse Practitioner license for the state of OH.Active BLS / CPR.
