Winfield Rest Haven Inc in Winfield, KS is looking for one Director of nursing to join our 57 person strong team. We are located on 1611 Ritchie. Our ideal candidate is attentive, motivated, and hard-working.

Job Classification : Exempt, Full-Time

Reporting Relationship : Administrator

Primary Accountabilities :

The Director of Nursing assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of nursing services in the facility. In collaboration with facility administrator, allocates department resources in an efficient and economic manner to enable each resident to attain or maintain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. Collaborates with other departments, medical professionals, consultants, and organizations, including government agencies and advocacy groups, to develop, support and coordinate resident care, related administrative functions, and to represent the interests of the facility.

Major Duties :

• Develops, maintains, and implements nursing policies and procedures that confirm to the current standards of nursing practice, facility philosophy, and operational policies while maintaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
• Communicates and interprets policies and procedures to nursing staff, and monitors staff practices and implementation.
• Participates in all admissions decisions and ensures a pre-admission is completed with all necessary information and depending on circumstances visits the potential resident before admission.
• Ensures delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate staff coverage on each unit. Oversees nursing schedule to assure the facility meets resident need, meets regulatory and budgetary standards.
• Participates in daily and weekly management team meetings to discuss resident status,  census changes, personnel, risk management and grievances.
• Monitors complaint reports daily for allegations of potential abuse, neglect, or exploitation then reports to the administrator and initiates an investigation as per policy.
• Communicates directly with residents, families, medical professionals, nursing staff, interdisciplinary team members, to coordinate cares and services by overseeing the development of care plans.
• Reviews daily reports to monitor and ensure timely and effective response to significant changes in condition, falls, unexplained injuries, behavioral episodes, medication errors, transfers, and discharges.
• Establishes, implements, and monitors the Antibiotic Stewardship Program and Infection Control program and reviews the infection control surveillance reports to identify trends and to develop effective actions.
