Certified Ophthalmic Technician – Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service during every patient encounter (in person or via phone)
• Greet patients promptly with a professional attitude and thank them as they leave
• Demonstrate urgency regarding patient time and doctor schedules
• Comply with all company policies and procedures including HIPAA
• Verify patient information by interviewing the patient
• Record medical history, current medications, and purpose of visit
• Document all data in the patient's electronic medical record
• Assess eye condition through pupil, muscle movement, visual acuity, and extraocular movements
• Perform required skills such as dilation, refraction, pressures, and diagnostic tests (visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor, topography)
• Demonstrate knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms and ocular medications
