Certified Ophthalmic Technician – Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service during every patient encounter (in person or via phone)
- Greet patients promptly with a professional attitude and thank them as they leave
- Demonstrate urgency regarding patient time and doctor schedules
- Comply with all company policies and procedures including HIPAA
- Verify patient information by interviewing the patient
- Record medical history, current medications, and purpose of visit
- Document all data in the patient's electronic medical record
- Assess eye condition through pupil, muscle movement, visual acuity, and extraocular movements
- Perform required skills such as dilation, refraction, pressures, and diagnostic tests (visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor, topography)
- Demonstrate knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms and ocular medications
