Hartford HealthCare, the largest and most comprehensive healthcare system in Connecticut, has a new growth opportunity for an  Oncology   Nurse Practitioner   or   Physician Assistant,  to join our cohesive team to provide value-based care to patients   in practice-based settings in  Hartford Healthcare’s Fairfield Region.

Some highlights of this opportunity include :

  • In collaboration with attending surgeons, this role is responsible for providing skilled health care to patients in a variety of clinical settings and facilitating clinical management of patients by collaborating with attending surgeons, clinical nurses and other members of health care teams.
  • Scope of responsibility is characterized by using nursing processes to assess, plan, evaluate and treat human responses to actual or potential surgical problems utilizing appropriate practices, standards, protocols and guidelines.
  • Provides direct patient care in office consultations, including assessment, workups, triage, emergency work-ins, and other patient care activities
  • Obtains and documents health history, performs and documents physical exam, and orders and interprets diagnostic tests
  • Provides counseling to patients regarding diagnosis and expected course of treatment
  • Collaborate with physicians to provide appropriate direct care interventions within scope of practice
  • Collects, organizes, records, and discusses data as appropriate and uses sound clinical judgment based on best practice standards and evidence based on medicine
  • Prescribes pharmaceuticals according to patient needs and conducts appropriate patient follow-up & outreach
  • Ensures timely retrieval of laboratory and ancillary studies and diagnostic consultation reports

    Qualifications

  • Eligibility to be licensed in Connecticut as a Physician Assistant (PA), or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), is required.
  • Eligibility to be certified as a Physician Assistant (PA), or National Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP), or Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) is required.
  • Oncology experience as a PA, NP, or RN is preferred.
