The Associate Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing the procedures and equipment involved in the manufacturing process. The Associate Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for evaluating and optimizing current and new processes to drive efficiencies in production in coordination with Manufacturing Engineer. They must design and implement manufacturing methods and processes that continually improve employee safety, product quality, and labor productivity goals and objectives for both new and existing products. Support daily production operations by applying engineering principles and troubleshooting skills to a diverse range of manufacturing processes, to maintain production flow. Develop skills to advance into more senior engineering roles.

- Provides necessary support within the factory and department to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.
- Act as the technical project manager with overall responsibility for the management, performance and completion of one major or several smaller projects.
- Generate the project scope statement from the preliminary requirements document.
- Use project deliverables to develop the work breakdown structure and network diagram that then drive the detailed activity / task list.
- Responsible for obtaining accurate time and cost estimates, then managing the project to schedule and budget.
- Actively manage the project's critical path.
- Perform a project risk assessment and recommend key experiments and / or simulation and predictive tools to mitigate areas of high potential risk.
- Use structured problem-solving methodologies to identify root cause. Offer conceptual solutions and work closely with the product development team to turn concepts into commercialized products.
- Provide leadership to the project team and work with team members to achieve common objectives.
- Prepare and present project milestone documents to the Engineering Milestone Review Committee. Work with team members to ensure accurate completion of engineering, marketing, and factory documents.
- Develop communication documents, presentations, and dashboards for communicating the project status, health, etc. to the leadership and marketing team.
- Drive the creation of technical specifications, design specifications, and system validation plans to meet the project deliverables.
- Provide leadership in meeting customer and regulatory requirements with designs that have sustainable differentiation for minimal overall cost.
- Provides engineering support by troubleshooting problems and implementing timely solutions to maintain continuity of production flow.
- Monitors and debugs production methods / procedures to ensure system efficiency.
- Prepares design concept drawings, cost estimates and implementation schedules for production equipment and tooling.
- Reviews and recommends changes to mechanical drawings and process documentation.
- Interfaces with other manufacturing departments to address and resolve engineering issues.
- Interfaces with vendors and outside sales personnel to evaluate, cost estimate, and select purchase parts and production equipment.
- Participates in Monthly Improvement Workshops (Kaizens).
- Develop, update and maintain the BOM's, routing and cost structure information.
Background and Skills
5-10 Years experience in new product development.Proven track record managing large, multidiscipline project schedules.BS in Mechanical Engineering.PMP or PMI certification.Extensive knowledge in product design and verification techniques.Ability to maneuver in CAD, Pro-Engineer preferred.Statistical and predictive experience with tools such as DOE, DFSS, FMEA.Basic knowledge of control systems, sensors and instrumentation.Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering or a comparable combination of training and experience.Three (3) years of specifically related experience preferred but not required.Knowledge and experience with lean tools and principles would be beneficial.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.Experience with SolidWorks preferred but not required.Personal Trait Profile
