About The Position

Certifications : ACLS, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring, BLS, NRP

Must-Have : C-section experience, scrub and recovery / circulate experience in Labor & Delivery

Description :

Unit includes 10 Labor & Delivery beds and 2 ORs.

There are 2 triage beds and 18 postpartum beds.

The unit averages approximately 130 births per month.

Ratios are 1 : 1 close to delivery, 1 : 2 otherwise, and 1 : 4 for couplets on postpartum.

Fetal Heart Monitoring is done using the Obix system.

The electronic medical record system is Cerner.

Charge Nurse responsibilities will be shared between Labor & Delivery and Postpartum.

There are scrub techs available on Labor & Delivery.

Weekend requirements include 4 shifts in a 4-week period.

No call is required.

Holidays include 1 major and 1 minor holiday, with major holidays being Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year's.

Scrub color will be provided.

There are no telemetry or ventilator patients.

Currently, there is no in-house OB / Neonatologist.

The IV and pharmacy teams are available 24 / 7.

Common patient diagnoses include deliveries at 23 weeks gestation and high-risk cases.

Additionally, antepartum conditions such as hypertension are treated with perinatology support.

L&D is the department's largest need.

Floating to postpartum is not typical unless the nurse has a NICU background.

Nurses typically do not work interchangeably between departments.
