Job Summary
The Police Officer performs law enforcement, crime prevention duties and other general police services in the preservation of public safety, property, prevention, detection, and investigation of crimes; enforces Federal, State, Tribal Laws, and ordinances.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
The Police Officer :
- Patrols assigned areas, investigates activities, performs surveillance, and enforces local, state, and federal laws as necessary for safety and security.
- Responds to calls for service pertaining to criminal activities / civil complaints; secures the scene, conducts preliminary investigations, and establishes law and order.
- Conducts follow-up investigations as assigned, appears in court to present evidence, and testifies as needed.
- Prepares, reviews, and revises reports; ensures accuracy and completeness.
- Compiles information for further analysis and use by supervising officers.
- Prepares for and prevents criminal activity through proper training and effective safety procedures; attends training as required for certification.
- Participates in community events to promote the department's image and programs.
- Performs the functions of a police officer and must demonstrate the ability to perform any related duties that may arise.
- Prepares written replies to correspondence.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director.

Required : High School Diploma or a GED Certificate, plus six (6) months experience as Police Recruit or trainee with the Pascua Yaqui Police Department.
Preferred : Lateral Police Officer applicants must be certified Police Officers in the State of Arizona and must have one (1) year experience as a certified officer.

Must have a current Arizona P.O.S.T. CertificationThis position will require the incumbent to work non-traditional hours, nights, and weekendsMust have an FBI, BIA, Tribal Court background check, an Arizona POST Clearance, to include, a Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card.
