American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring Level 1 or 2 trauma experience and an active SD or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in the Surgical Services department with 12 operating rooms and additional Pre-Op and PACU baysCases include Urology, Neuro, Ortho, Robotic, General, Podiatry, and ENT surgeriesPatients may require pre and post-op recovery, including some ICU-level care in PACUTypical shifts are 12 hours with variable schedulingWeekend rotation required, with on-call responsibilities including ideally one overnight per week and every third weekendSleep room available in the Pre-Op / PACU area during on-call shiftsUses Epic EMR; Epic experience preferred but not requiredOmnicell and Alaris equipment is utilizedFloating may occur to Pre-Op, PACU, or floor, serving as helping hands if outside peri-op servicesRN will provide care through all perioperative phasesRatios : OR 1 : 1, Pre-Op 1 : 2, PACU Phase I 1 : 1 or 1 : 2 based on acuity, PACU Phase II 1 : 2-3Multidisciplinary support includes RN First Assist, Surg Tech, Nurse Clinician, CRN, Service Line Leads, and other support staffOne week of orientation is providedScrubs are provided to all staffFree parking is availableExpect to work two out of four major holidaysLow census may result in non-paid time, subject to manager approvalThis is a traveler-friendly environment with positive feedback on contract renewals\n \n Requirements\n
Active South Dakota or compact state RN license requiredCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredMinimum 2 years of OR experience with Level 1 or 2 traumaExperience in a tertiary care center and with Ortho-Trauma, Neuro, General, and Robotic (Davinci XI) casesPre-Op and PACU experience including ICU skillset strongly preferredMust have completed a nursing education program approved by a board of nursingMust live more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligibleFirst-time travelers will not be accepted without prior approvalFormer permanent staff must wait one full year before returning as a traveler\n Benefits\n
