Mammographer Technologist Lead

POSITION PURPOSE

The Lead Mammography Technologist is a key leadership and clinical role responsible for the daily coordination and delivery of high-quality mammographic imaging services. This position oversees workflow, provides technical guidance to staff, ensures compliance with MQSA, ACR, and other regulatory standards, and supports ongoing quality assurance initiatives. In addition to leadership duties, the Lead Mammography Technologist performs all routine and advanced mammography procedures, provides direct patient care, and assists in staff training, scheduling, and problem-solving. The role promotes a patient-centered approach while fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

Graduate of an accredited certification program in Radiologic Technology

Associate degree : Medical Imaging or Radiologic Technology

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Technologist with a minimum of 2 years’ experience.

Experience in a supervisory or leadership responsibilities (preferred).

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Valid, unrestricted Wisconsin Licensed Radiographer license required and maintained throughout employment.

American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T.) certified in Radiography (R).

American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T.) – Mammography (M).

Current BLS and / or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

Minimum of 2 years as a Mammography Technologist with progressive responsibilities.

Basic computer knowledge.

Ability to read, write, hear, speak and comprehend the English language fluently.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Must meet Department specific essential job duties.

Deliver high-quality imaging services that are safe, timely, and patient centered.

Serve as a technical expert and resource for Mammography Technologists and assists with providing technical departmental coverage for hours of operation.

Collaborates with department leadership to optimize staffing, scheduling, and equipment utilization.

Oversee daily operations of the Mammography department to ensure efficient workflow and patient care.

Contributes to department quality improvement initiatives and performance goals.

Assists in developing and reviewing policies and procedures.

Supports training, orientation, and competency development of Mammography staff and assists with employee recruitment and retention.

Assists with maintaining compliance with hospital policies and accreditation standards.

Promotes a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement with employees and providers.
