Responsibilities Work in an acute care hospital Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown) Unit consists of 22 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 4 Patient population includes heart failure, Afib, respiratory distress, and stroke cases RNs are required to titrate drips such as cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin RNs must read and interpret their own telemetry strips CPAP equipment is used within the unit Charge nurse is present on each shift and takes a full patient assignment Nurse aids / patient care techs available with a ratio of 1 : 10 Uses Epic EMR; experience preferred Cyclic scheduling with 12-hour day shifts (0630-1900) Every other weekend and one major plus one minor holiday required Floating to ICU required if appropriate and experienced Fast-paced environment with frequent admissions and discharges Orientation includes a 12-hour shift in the department and a pass / fail exam on skills learned Team-based approach with strong emphasis on a positive attitude and collaboration Must be prepared to float to ICU if qualified Holiday coverage for one major and one minor holiday is expected RTO must be declared up front; no additional or post-submission RTO will be approved Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility Requirements Active IA or compact RN license required at time of consideration Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a similar setting Current certifications required : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Driver’s license required to confirm address and compliance with 50-mile radius rule Must have two professional references : one supervisor from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years Must pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a score of at least 90% Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas Previous full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year will disqualify candidates Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-623083.
