Main Objective
Main Objective : Lead, conduct, and coordinate biomechanical research studies and product testing in a laboratory setting and report findings.
Responsibilities
- Design and perform biomechanical research studies aligned with Arthrex's strategic research initiatives. Such research could include :
- Static and dynamic mechanical testing
- Cadaveric testing
- Design and perform research to facilitate evaluation of new technologies and design concepts.
- Participate in the preparation (e.g., literature review), writing, and submission process of scientific articles.
- Collaborate with surgeons for ongoing studies and potential future studies or projects, identifying major ways to advance patient care and scientific evidence.
- Perform mechanical testing studies by preparing test samples, collecting data, record keeping, and statistically analyzing data.
- Prepare technical reports and disseminate information to facilitate product related business decision making.
- Work with product management or engineering to identify, analyze, and support new opportunities for added value or future growth.
- Maintain laboratory organization and cleanliness.
- Operate a variety of materials testing machines (including a KUKA robot), gauges, and software to obtain requested testing results.
- Maintain and update records of work performed to contribute to team and personal metrics.
- Maintain a leading-edge understanding of research and applications in relation to assigned portfolio(s), including new exploratory studies and / or projects.
- Minimal travel and some flexibility of work hours may be required, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Must comply with all laboratory safety instructions and wear PPE as appropriate for various activities.

Minimum 2 years experience in a biomechanical laboratory and Bachelors degree in Engineering required.Publication experience preferred.Robotic (e.g., KUKA) testing experience preferred.Knowledge and Skill Requirements / Specialized Courses and / or Training
Advanced computer skills. Familiarity with Microsoft applications, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. MATLAB or prior coding experience. Computer-aided design experience (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo). Knowledge of biomechanical testing principles. Anatomy and physiology knowledge. Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
Machine, Tools, and / or Equipment Skills
Mechanical testing systems (e.g., Instron / MTS). Mechanical workshop tools, including drills, bandsaws, screwdrivers, and wrenches. Basic setup or assembly experience using vises / clamps, nuts, bolts, and screws.
