The Lakeville Police Department is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Reserve Police Officers. This volunteer role allows you to be an active part of law enforcement, supporting sworn officers and making a real impact on the safety and well-being of our city.

This volunteer, non-sworn position is accountable to the Reserve Liaison Officer. Reserve Police Officers are an important component of the Lakeville Police Department and are a valued asset within the department and community.

Required Training
Reserve Officers must attend an in-depth training academy to familiarize themselves with police functions and to prepare for reserve tasks.
The Training Academy is 10-weeks, two evenings per week; generally from 6-10 PMSome Saturdays may be required

Reserve Officers must maintain a minimum of twenty-five (25) hours every three months.

Task Examples :
Respond to call-outs for the Lakeville Police Department to provide assistance as needed for crowd control and / or traffic control at accident scenes, fires or natural disasters.Provide crowd control, traffic and foot patrol at special events such as high school football games,Pan-O-Progand other community events.Ride along with Police Officers and assist as directed.Patrol the city with other Reserve Officers and assist Police Officers as needed.Assist in transporting prisoners to detention facilities.Perform other duties as assigned or directed by the Chief of Police or his designee.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Commitment to high ethical standards and the ability to demonstrate initiative and independent decision making.Ability to learn and retain requirements in the Reserve Unit standard operating procedures.Knowledge of department policies and procedures as they apply to the Reserve Officer position.Knowledge of the geography of Lakeville.Ability and skill in working as a team to fulfill the mission of the Lakeville Police Department.A desire to assist the Police Department in day-to-day service and maintenance functions.Skill in the operation and maintenance of departmental equipment.High school graduate or equivalent.18 years of age on appointment date.Driverslicense with a good driving record.No felony convictions or history of criminal activity.Must successfully complete a thorough background investigation.Reserve Officers and other department members will provide task training through a ten-week training academy and a one-year probationary period of on-the-job training.ENVISION LAKEVILLE
