Pathology Services Manager

Under limited supervision, delivers high quality, cost-effective patient care services and administrative management of Pathology services in the Clinical Laboratory and Point of Care Testing. Responsible for the ongoing planning and operations of the department.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Medicine or related field. Master's degree preferred.

Experience

Eight years in Laboratory Medicine discipline with five years management experience in a relevant professional and clinical environment in a progressively responsible role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of : Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Laboratory, Customer / Client Services, Phlebotomy and Information Systems
  • Skill in leadership, written communication, innovative problem solving
  • Skill in systematic data analysis, problem analysis and goal planning
  • Skill in computers and personal productivity applications
  • Able to encourage collaborative efforts between functional teams

Licensures, Certifications

Certification in Medical Technology through an accrediting agency (such as ASCP) or a subspecialty certification in a discipline in which the employee is to work.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift lightweight objects (20 to 40 pounds), and / or bending and stooping occasionally
  • Working Conditions

  • Rare exposure to distasteful odors, low level electromagnetic forces (EMF), hazardous chemicals and hazards of communicable disease and infection when performing analysis on patient specimens

    Operations Management :

  • With minimal supervision facilitates a multifunctional team to ensure Clinical Laboratory operations provide efficient, high quality, cost-effective laboratory services. Develops and implements work processes for all areas of responsibility. Establishes policies for all clinical and business operational tasks within assigned areas
  • Strategic Operations Management :

  • Directs the evaluation of new technologies, procedures and supplies. Provides counsel on new test or service implementation. Plans, implements and monitors achievement of strategic business objectives. Communicates initiatives to appropriate personnel. Identifies, implements and monitors new practice opportunities for growth. Provides investigation and resolution for issues brought up by clinicians and customers related to Clinical Laboratory testing
  • Service Excellence :

  • Monitors, investigates and responds to customer, physician and pathologist feedback, modifying technical and office systems, processes as needed
  • Maintain or improve Key Performance Indicators
  • Human Resources Functions :

  • Manages human resources within established productivity guidelines and the personnel budget. Facilitates training and development efforts. Maintains employee competencies. Monitors and reviews work performance of the staff. Interviews and selects personnel. Provides development opportunities to staff
  • Responsible for the supervision of Medical Technologists, Medical Technicians, Laboratory Clinical Specialist, Medical Tech Specialist Shift Supervisor, Chemistry and Point of Care Testing Lead Coordinator and Laboratory Informatics Coordinator
  • Quality and Patient Safety Initiatives :

  • Oversees staff involvement in quality control and improvement efforts, general safety, and infection control procedures
  • Initiates, monitors, evaluates performance improvement on a unit level as needed
  • Monitors trends, reviews and revises systems / processes as appropriate

  • Pay Range : $86,851.13 - $156,332.04

    Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
