Responsibilities

  • Field Engineering responsibilities include : closeout redlines, test audits, lessons learned, warranties, product submittals, redlines, RFIs, design review, and ensuring work aligns with design / specifications.
  • Oversee submission of changes to the Statement of Work (SoW); redlines shall be completed and submitted to engineering by Field Engineers.
  • Engineering will create an internal calendar to track tasks and deadlines; build-out will involve substantial redlining due to measurements, equipment placements, grounding, and bonding.
  • Verify infrastructure installation against design / specifications; finalize redlines for closeout if changes are needed.
  • Fiber scope : use internal tracker to reflect past changes; Field Engineers verify fiber scope per IES design updates.
  • Copper scope : internal tracker provides close-out information; Field Engineer may act as POC to ensure installation matches print and redline submissions as needed.
  • Network scope : collaborate with the team to configure details if redlines are required.
  • RFI referencing / implementation : Field Engineer references RFIs on redlines prior to QA review; RFIs accepted / rejected communicated to applicable teams.
  • Test audits : Field Engineer runs and verifies audits after project completion; verify cable schedules and ensure audit packages are ready for testing; conduct retests as needed and finalize audits per the project plan.
  • Lessons Learned : maintain an actively updated document with input from engineers and QA; finalize / review the lessons learned template at the end of each project; capture information from the lessons learned tracker.
  • Warranties : Field Engineer gathers information toward the end of the build and coordinates with a designated team member to process warranties.
  • Product Submittals : Field Engineer completes product submittals; verify BOM with POs and obtain product sheets; template is used as a baseline with necessary additions / subtractions.
  • Labels : assist with printing installation labels; maintain organized bins per area and a sign-out sheet for leads; email engineering with reasons for reprints.
  • RFI oversight : Field Engineer may act as the main engineer for RFIs; collaborate on submissions and document design feedback as lessons learned; communicate RFIs with acceptance / rejections to relevant teams.
  • Design (Shop Drawings) : oversee design work, verify and brainstorm areas of interest, submit into BIM360, and manage revisions and hyperlinks.
  • Areas of focus include : Infrastructure (Grounding / Bonding), Copper, Fiber, Detail sheets.

Min USD $32.00 / Hr. Max USD $40.00 / Hr.

Qualifications

  • Ability to diagnose and fix problems with existing equipment and new installations.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints and project documents (specs, reports, quality requirements).
  • Willingness to travel within the branch and / or regional territory as needed.
  • Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements :

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 3-4 years of commercial low-voltage / structured cabling experience.
  • Ability to work well with others and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project).
  • Must meet company minimum driving standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks / projects simultaneously and define project scope, tasks, and milestones for customer turnover.
  • Experience Minimum Years of Experience : 0-2
