Job Summary

The Surgical Tech provides a variety of preparatory, scrubbing, and related services necessary to ensure patient safety and high-quality surgical care in the operating room. This role supports all specialty areas, including robotics, neuro, ortho, ENT, plastics, bariatrics, urology, GYN, vascular, and general surgery. Responsibilities also include assisting with ancillary tasks such as cleaning, stocking, instrumentation, and sterile processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scrubbing duties across multiple surgical specialties, including robotics (DaVinci XI), neuro, and orthopedics.
  • Assist surgical teams by maintaining sterile technique, positioning patients, and preparing instrumentation.
  • Support sterile processing with assembly and turnover of surgical instruments.
  • Float between Main OR and East Side (same building), with rare potential to West Side surgery center.
  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, RNs, and surgeons to ensure safe and efficient patient care.

Requirements

  • Minimum Experience : 2 years surgical tech experience (no exceptions).
  • First-Time Traveler : Considered upon review.
  • Certifications : CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) and BLS.
  • Mandatory Skills : Scrubbing, sterile processing support, robotics (DaVinci XI), positioning patients.
  • Other Skills : Ability to work in specialties including ENT, endovascular, vascular, bariatrics, plastics, and general surgery.

    • Facility Details

  • Hospital Beds : 167 total; 19 ORs split between two locations.
  • Patient Types : General, Robotics, Bariatrics, Ophthalmology, Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac, Urology, ENT, Plastics, Endovascular.
  • Daily Cases : Varies by department.
  • Support : Charge nurse available Monday–Friday (no charge weekends / holidays).
  • Technology : EPIC (EMR), Alaris (IV pumps), Pyxis (medication dispensing), Philips imaging systems.

    • Scheduling & Shifts

  • Shift : Evening Shift.
  • On-Call : None.
  • Weekends / Holidays : May be required to work some holidays; no regular weekend requirement.
  • Orientation : (2) 8-hour shifts on the unit.
  • RTO : No more than 4 days approved; subject to manager approval.

  • Scrub Color : Provided by facility (procedural).
  • Parking : Free, on-site.
  • Telemetry Monitoring : Yes (anesthesiologist monitored).
