Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical position with night shifts, working with both medical surgical and surgical oncology patients in a Level 1 trauma acute care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Position based in a 47-bed acute care Medical Surgical unit
  • Patient population includes medical surgical and surgical oncology cases
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 5 : 1 on days and 6 : 1 on nights
  • Night shifts are 12 hours each, with every other weekend and holiday required
  • Floating may be required to other med / surg units on any campus
  • Unit utilizes equipment including Epic EMR, AccuDose, bladder scanners, Phillips monitors, and telemetry
  • Duties include collaborating with interdisciplinary colleagues, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, and practicing within full scope of nursing expertise
  • Initial orientation includes 1 day lead center training and two 12-hour shifts with a preceptor
  • Navy blue scrubs are required
  • All staff must badge in and out while onsite
  • Candidates must not have a permanent address within 60 miles of the facility; reduced local rate applies for those within 60 to 80 miles
  • Candidates previously employed by the health system must have ended employment at least 6 months prior to consideration

    • Requirements

  • Active ND or Compact RN license required
  • BLS certification through AHA required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Med / Surg RN experience
  • Experience in a hospital with at least 200 beds and Level 2 or higher trauma experience required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Previous surgical oncology experience preferred
