Job summary

Seeking a Kafka Developer with strong AWS experience to design, build, and operate high-throughput streaming pipelines on MSK and related AWS services. You'll own producers / consumers, streaming apps, cluster operations, security, and CI / CD while partnering with data engineers and architects to deliver resilient, low-latency integrations.

Key responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain Kafka producers / consumers and stream-processing apps (Java / Scala / Python).

Deploy, manage, and optimize Kafka clusters on AWS (MSK), including capacity planning, partitioning, replication, and failover.

Build end-to-end streaming pipelines using Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams (or Flink / Spark Streaming where applicable), and downstream sinks.

Implement and automate monitoring / alerting (CloudWatch, Prometheus / Grafana) and performance tuning; troubleshoot lag, rebalance, ISR, and retention issues.

Enforce security best practices : IAM, TLS, encryption, ACLs / authorizers, secrets management.

Use IaC and CI / CD (Terraform / CloudFormation; Jenkins / GitLab CI) to provision and promote infra / app changes.

Collaborate with data engineers, platform teams, and solution architects to capture requirements and deliver robust streaming solutions.

Produce runbooks, architecture diagrams, and hand-off documentation.

Required skills / qualifications

5 8+ years total software / data engineering; 3+ years hands-on Kafka.

Deep knowledge of Kafka architecture : topics, partitions, brokers, replication, ISR, consumer groups, rebalancing, retention / compaction.

Strong AWS : MSK, EC2, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC; plus networking fundamentals (SG / NACL, PrivateLink).

Solid in one or more languages used with Kafka : Java (preferred), Scala, or Python.

Kafka ecosystem : Kafka Connect (sink / source), Kafka Streams (or equivalent), Schema Registry / Avro / Protobuf, REST Proxy.

Distributed systems fundamentals; building scalable, fault-tolerant apps.

Familiarity with relational / NoSQL stores for persistence / integration.

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and team collaboration.
