About The Position
Job Title : Cardiac Sonographer

Experience : Minimum one year of cardiac experience required.
License : Registered in echocardiography (RCS or RDCS).
Certifications : BLS must be certified through American Heart Association only.
Must-Have :
Successful completion of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) approved ultrasound program.
Associate Degree in Biological Sciences, Radiology, Ultrasound, or relevant health sciences field.
Description :
The Cardiac Sonographer independently performs professional level assessments and a variety of non-invasive studies using ultrasound and related diagnostic technology.
The results and clinical preliminary impressions are recorded as indicated.
These exams direct the course of patient care.
The sonographer uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures to evaluate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic disease processes.
The sonographer assists with transthoracic echo, transesophageal echo, and stress testing.
This includes dobutamine, treadmill exercise stress echo, and carotid duplex studies.
The sonographer communicates preliminary impressions of examination results to reading and supervising physicians.
All examinations are performed within standard protocols on adults and geriatric patients, and occasionally on adolescents and pediatric age groups.
The sonographer performs examinations using both stationary and portable equipment.
They serve as a clinical instructor for the ultrasound program and participate in the instruction of fellows, residents, and visiting physicians.
The sonographer may also participate in clinical research and act as a clinical resource to staff.
Travelers must reside more than 50 miles from the primary work site location.
Shifts may require floating between different units to support staffing needs.
The environment includes a mix of inpatient and outpatient settings.
The Cardiac Sonographer is expected to complete an average of seven scans per day.
The unit features interdisciplinary support and advanced imaging techniques.
Special equipment includes ultrasound enhancement agents and the ability to perform specific cardiac studies.
Weekend rotations and occasional call may be required.
