Job Summary
The Stockroom Assistant will assist the Science Stores / Laboratory Coordinator for the Departments of Chemistry and Biology with a variety of tasks associated with the general operation and function of laboratory activities in the Department of Chemistry. Assistant will report to the Science Stores / Laboratory Coordinator and all work duties will take place within the Chemistry Department laboratories and prep rooms.
Essential Duties
1. Clean, store, and restock laboratory glassware and accessories.
2. Reshelve chemical reagents in laboratories and storerooms
3. Update chemical and equipment inventory as needed
4. Maintain labs and storerooms to be clean, efficient, and well-stocked.
5. Monitor laboratory hazardous waste to insure compliance with regulations and procedures.
6. Prepare chemical solutions for general lab use.
7. Assist with special projects as needed
Required Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer completion of General Chemistry I with a grade of C or higher.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Physical Demands
Medium Work : Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Additional Demands
May be subjected to fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, and oils.
