The Role
The Patent Secretary will provide patent legal secretarial and administrative support to attorneys across patent prosecution and litigation practices. This is a full-time hybrid position in the Washington, DC office.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and file new applications (Provisional, National Phase, Continuation, Divisional, CIP)
- Review and process USPTO formalities (Filing Receipts, Notices of Missing Parts, Notices of Publication)
- Draft and file responses, amendments, IDS’s, and petitions
- Revise documents (including TOCs and TOAs for briefs)
- Arrange attorney travel and process expense reports
- Manage time entry and electronic filing
- Provide occasional reception coverage and other administrative duties
Qualifications
5–10 years of patent prosecution experience (litigation experience a plus)Proficient in USPTO Patent CenterStrong skills in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems (e.g., iManage)Accurate typing skills (60+ WPM)Excellent communication, organizational, and attention to detail skillsBachelor’s or associate degree preferred but not requiredSchedule
