Job Summary :
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Welding QC Supervisor
to oversee and ensure the quality of welding operations in accordance with project specifications, AISC certification standards, and internal procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing UT inspections, completing all required documentation, managing root cause analysis and corrective action processes, maintaining the Quality Control Manual, and preparing for internal and external audits—especially in bridge fabrication projects.
Key Responsibilities :
Non-Destructive Testing :
Perform and / or supervise Ultrasonic Testing (UT) inspections on welded components to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Documentation & Reporting :
Accurately complete and maintain inspection forms, reports, weld maps, and traceability logs.
Root Cause Analysis :
Lead investigations into quality issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective / preventive actions.
AISC Compliance :
Ensure all welding activities comply with AISC certification standards for bridge fabrication.
QC Manual Maintenance :
Keep the Quality Control Manual current and aligned with changing standards and audit requirements.
Audit Preparation :
Assist in or lead preparations for internal and external audits, including those required by AISC or client-specific programs.
Training & Oversight :
Train welders and QC staff on quality standards, inspection procedures, and documentation practices.
Liaison :
Coordinate with production, engineering, and client representatives to ensure welding quality meets or exceeds requirements.
Qualifications : Certifications :
AISC Certified for Bridges (or ability to maintain certification status)
ASNT Level II in UT (or equivalent experience) preferred
CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) is a plus
Experience :
Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding inspection, preferably in structural steel and bridge fabrication
Experience in creating and maintaining quality documentation
Previous Mig and Tig welding is a plus
Hands-on experience with UT inspections
Ability to read blueprints, tape measuring and other measuring devices
Skills :
Strong understanding of welding procedures and codes (AWS D1.1, D1.5, etc.)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management systems
Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
Ability to travel between 2 local locations
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to pass a preemployment screening
