Construction Safety Manager – Structural Steel Projects - Travel 75%
Seeking a Construction Safety Manager to support large-scale structural steel projects. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in the field and has a passion for maintaining top-tier safety standards on complex, fast-paced job sites. If you are an experienced APM, the company will train you on safety if you are interested in the position and willing to travel 75% to sites.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead on-site safety programs, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses.
Guide and train field crews on safe work practices, fall protection, and equipment use.
Participate in daily crew meetings and coordinate with site leadership and general contractors.
Investigate incidents and near misses, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Track and report safety performance metrics and recommend improvements.
Maintain open communication with management and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience (5+ years) accepted.
Strong background in structural steel erection safety.
In-depth knowledge of OSHA 1926 regulations; MSHA familiarity a plus.
Professional safety certification (CHST, STS-C, or equivalent) preferred or willingness to obtain.
Proven ability to train employees and lead by example in a field environment.
Proficient with technology and reporting tools; strong communication and leadership skills.
Work Environment :
Primarily field-based role requiring frequent and extended travel (up to 75%).
Involves physical activity including climbing, lifting, and working in varied weather conditions.
Weekend work occasionally required based on project demands.
