Position : Manager of Residence Life

Summary : The Manager of Residence Life is a key student affairs professional responsible for developing, delivering, and supervising the residential life component of programs offered at Crazy Horse Memorial University®. The University includes suite-style living in a blended instructional and residential facility designed to foster curricular and co-curricular learning and academic and life success. The Manager of Residence Life supervises residential staff, responsibly sets residential staff schedules to ensure appropriate oversight, and other administrative responsibilities as needed. The Manager of Residence Life also is among the Academic Success Coaches supporting students onsite and through college graduation. He / she is involved in select recruitment activities as assigned and is a part of the interview and selection committee.
Responsibilities :
- Makes recommendations to the Director regarding the hiring of residential life staff for all programs, in keeping with established budgets
- Provides leadership, direction, and supervision to the residential life staff, sets staffing schedules, develops and delivers residential life orientation programs and ongoing professional development, and holds weekly meetings with residential staff during academic programs
- Responsible for the development and delivery of successful and innovative co-curricular learning experiences and activities for all programs of Crazy Horse Memorial University®.
- In conjunction with the Director of Programs, responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations and scheduling the use of the University facility
- Serves on program development committees to effectively address the residential life and co-curricular areas of any program and the development of residential life student, staff, and faculty handbooks
- Provides administrative support to the University leadership team in recruitment, program development and delivery, program assessment, and academic success coaching
- Participates in recruitment activities for programs and is a member of admission committee conducting applicant interviews
- Represents Crazy Horse Memorial® and Crazy Horse Memorial University®. at select and appropriate conferences
- Responsible for arranging required transportation for the programs, setting workable and efficient travel schedules, develops desk duty schedules
- Provides leadership for the development and implementation of ongoing residential life program evaluation
- Contributes to the development and management of Residence Life budgets
- Responsible for the care of the facility, working closely with maintenance, ensuring that the residential facility is effectively managed in keeping with standards
- Establishes and implements operating policies and procedures for facility use, space allocations, hours of operation, and residential staff management
- Supervises residential staff.
- Responsible for food orders for the University in keeping with budget.
- Prepare and serve food.
- With the Director, maintains an awareness of housing response safety protocols and resources
- Involved in planning and delivering culturally appropriate opening and closing ceremonies for all programs
- Ensures that the policies and practices of the University Handbooks and the policies and the practices of Crazy Horse Memorial® are being followed
- Involved in completing, assisting and ask for the annual research on the college persistence and college graduation rates of past participants of all programs
- May serve among the Academic Success Coaching team providing critical support to students
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required in a relevant field and / or experience with the development and delivery of intentional residential education for Native American students.Experience with recruitment, selection, training, and ongoing development of residential life and student support staff.This position is required to alternate with the Assistant Manager of Residence life to live in the residence hall while programs are in session.Must represent the Memorial professionally in various venues.Experience in a higher education program for Native students required.Must be technologically proficient.Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable.Ability to obtain Serve Safe Certification.Salary / Compensation : $60,000 per year
