Certified School Resource Police Officer
We are seeking a dedicated and community-oriented individual to serve as a Certified School Resource Police Officer within our local school district. The primary role of this position is to foster a safe and secure learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. The School Resource Police Officer will collaborate with school officials, students, and parents to build positive relationships and ensure the well-being of the school community.
Examples of Duties :
- School Security : Maintain a visible presence on school grounds to deter potential threats and ensure a safe environment for students and staff.
- Emergency Response : Respond promptly to emergency situations, including lockdowns, evacuations, and medical emergencies, and coordinate with school staff and administration.
- Crisis Intervention : Provide support and assistance during crisis situations, addressing conflicts, and promoting a positive school climate.
- Law Enforcement Education : Educate students on law enforcement and safety topics through presentations, workshops, and classroom discussions.
- Community Engagement : Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents through regular interactions, community events, and outreach programs.
- Law Enforcement Liaison : Serve as a liaison between the school and local law enforcement agencies, fostering communication and collaboration.
- Mentorship : Provide mentorship and guidance to students, offering support in areas such as conflict resolution and decision-making.
- Investigations : Conduct investigations related to criminal activities within the school environment, working closely with school administration and local law enforcement.
- Security Planning : Collaborate with school administrators to develop and implement security plans and procedures.
- Resource Coordination : Connect students and families with community resources to address social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
Typical Qualifications :
Minimum of two (2) years' experience in law enforcement, with prior experience as a School Resource Officer preferred.Physical fitness and ability to engage with young children and potentially cover large high school campus on foot or on a bicycle.Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a law enforcement team.Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with school staff and school administration.Valid driver's license.Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.Must be a citizen of the United States of America.Must have reached the age of majority (21-years old).Must hold a United States high school diploma or its equivalent.Must have not been released or discharged under dishonorable conditions from any of the armed forces of the United States.Must be found to be of good moral character as demonstrated by past or present behaviors.Supplemental Information :
Currently offering $15,000.00 hiring incentive for all lateral certified officers. Upon hire receive $10,000.00 and after 1 year of employment, receive the remaining $5,000.00. Upon completion of our FTO program, receive $1,500.00 equipment stipend. Currently offering $3,000.00-$5,000.00 annual retention incentives for certified law enforcement officers. Yearly School Resource Officer training through NASRO Conferences. Certified lateral officers will receive up to 40 hours of vacation upon hire or depending on years of service half of annual accrual. Upon completion of FTO program, multiple training opportunities and ability to assess for specialties such as SWAT, Honor Guard, Technical Team, Negotiation Team, to name a few. Offering $1.25 per specialty or specific certifications with a max at 4 specialty.
