The Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4 / Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE HealthCare as a Skill Bridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service member's suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE HealthCare, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.

Responsibilities

  • Under supervision, work within hospital environment to evaluate and troubleshoot imaging / PCS equipment issues, implement appropriate repairs, perform planned maintenance (PM), safety / environmental inspections and maintain effective customer relations. Follow GE policies, procedures, hospital protocol and complete necessary documentation as guided.
  • Maintain communications with customers as directed to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, supporting GE / customer facility contracts and business goals.
  • Assist more experienced technicians on progressive repairs and work as a member of the local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within the assigned area.
  • Document all repair actions and submit reports / summaries according to schedule. Maintain approved parts inventory. Manage vendor service delivery processes in compliance with GE policies.
  • Ensure proper care of spares, tools and test equipment and ensure calibration. Maintain and enhance technical knowledge of current standards, codes and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment.
  • Meet Health and Human Services and Environment, Health and Safety requirements.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Active Military Personnel
  • Must be able to develop and maintain good customer relationships.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Special Physical Requirements : ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs unassisted; frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch / squat, kneel / crawl, sit and stand for long periods; reach at, above and below shoulder level; good hand and finger dexterity; vision requirements include color, close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
  • You may not relocate more than 30 miles from your current location without manager approval.
  • Complete all planned Quality and Compliance training within defined deadlines. Identify and report any and all customer quality or compliance concerns to the Quality Organization.
  • Aware of and comply with GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations for this role.
  • Desired Characteristics

  • Experience interpreting schematic diagrams and performing troubleshooting and planned maintenance on basic biomedical, diagnostic imaging, or electronic equipment following current standards and procedures.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good customer relations.
  • Analytical and communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to customers.
  • Experience interfacing with both internal team members and external customers as part of a solution-based service process.
