Status : Full-time | On-site, Monday through Friday in Tulsa, OK

Overview

This is a hands-on underwriting role focused on evaluating personal lines risks, delivering accurate pricing, and supporting a trusted network of agents across Oklahoma. You’ll work within a collaborative team that values sound judgment, clear communication, and efficiency in every step of the underwriting process.

Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate new and renewal insurance applications for completeness, accuracy, and eligibility under company guidelines
  • Analyze risk profiles, loss history, and supporting documentation to determine coverage terms, pricing, and acceptability
  • Prepare and issue quotes, reports, and policy documentation for agents and insureds
  • Maintain compliance with state Department of Insurance regulations and company standards
  • Manage renewals, endorsements, and mid-term policy changes to ensure data accuracy and proper coverage
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with agency partners through responsive service and clear communication
  • Provide guidance and support to internal teammates, escalating complex issues as needed
  • Identify and communicate process improvements that enhance underwriting efficiency and profitability
  • Back up fellow team members during absences to maintain workflow continuity

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or a related field preferred
  • Active Property & Casualty license required
  • 1–3 years of underwriting experience preferred (personal lines or similar)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound decision-making ability
  • Solid understanding of insurance principles, regulations, and best practices
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to work effectively with agents and colleagues
  • High level of organization, accuracy, and follow-through
  • Professional, dependable, and team-oriented demeanor
