ABOUT THE POSITION
The County of Riverside's Temporary Assignment Program (TAP) seeks to fill a Temporary Revenue and Recovery Technician I to support the RUHS - Medical Center in Collections practices on the Customer Service Team in Riverside, CA.
Competitive candidates will have experience in establishing payment plans and verifying insurance eligibility for both government and private health plans.
Preferred : Spanish Bilingual; Experience with MediCal.
Schedule : 5 / 40 : Monday - Friday, 7 : 30am - 4pm.
Under general supervision, performs routine revenue and recovery work; gathers and verifies information on clients' financial status; and performs other related duties as required.
The Revenue and Recovery Technician I is the first working level class in the Revenue and Recovery series. Positions in this class are characterized by performing routine activities for the recovery of current, delinquent, and unresolved accounts, and court related activities being referred to a higher-level class. The Revenue and Recovery Technician I class is distinguished from the Revenue and Recovery Technician II in that the latter performs the full range of revenue and recovery work. This class is further distinguished from the Revenue and Recovery Supervisor I in that the latter is a working supervisor and performs the more difficult revenue and recovery work.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education : Graduation from high school or attainment of a satisfactory score on G.E.D. test.
Experience : OPTION I
One year of experience performing collections activities including gathering financial information and scheduling account payments.
OPTION II
Two years of clerical experience involving public contact in a field related to the collection of delinquent accounts. (Education from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience on the basis of 18 semester or 27 quarter units in secretarial science, office practices, or a closely related field.)
Knowledge of : Office procedures in a related field, including preparing correspondence and reports; the operation of standard office equipment; principles, methods, and equipment used for information processing.
Ability to : Interview clients to obtain personal and financial information; utilize standard collection techniques; prepare correspondence and legal documents; communicate effectively under stressful conditions with people from a variety of social, cultural, and economic backgrounds; establish and maintain effective working relationships.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION : Voluntary employee contribution with a choice between two 457 deferred compensation plan options.
VACATION ACCRUAL (Bi-Weekly Accrual) :
10 or more years = 160 Hours (20 Days)
Maximum Vacation leave accumulation is 480 hours.
SICK LEAVE : Four (4) hours Sick Leave accrual per pay period with unlimited accrual.
HOLIDAYS : Normally 12 paid holidays per year
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE : Allowed 5 days (3 days are County paid; 2 additional days can be taken from accrued Sick Leave balance)
BASIC LIFE INSURANCE : Equal to one times annual base salary not to exceed $50,000 of term life coverage. Premiums are paid by the County. Additional Supplemental Life plan is available for employee purchase.
DISABILITY :
Employees contribute to State Disability Insurance (SDI), which provides wage replacement benefits for those unable to work due to non-work-related illness, injury, or pregnancy. SDI also includes Paid Family Leave benefits. The wage replacement rate, as defined by current law, is between 60-70% of wages earned during the SDI eligibility period. Benefits can be coordinated with other available leave balances to provide up to 100% of regular pay.
POST RETIREMENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION : A monthly contribution is made by the County towards retiree health insurance offered through the County as governed by the applicable Memorandum of Understanding.
