Position Summary
This is a hands-on role focused on the installation, setting, alignment, and commissioning of industrial machinery and equipment. Ideal candidates bring strong mechanical aptitude, pride in craftsmanship, and a proven commitment to safety and quality. You’ll work from drawings and specs, execute precision layout and rigging, and collaborate with engineers and trades to deliver reliable, on-time installs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, equipment manuals, and schematics to plan work.
- Install, set, move, and align industrial machinery and mechanical equipment using precision tools (levels, laser / dial indicators, micrometers).
- Lay out structural steel, equipment centers, and anchor bolt patterns; set and grout bases / equipment pads.
- Rig, lift, and signal safely; develop and follow basic lift plans with cranes, forklifts, and aerial lifts.
- Perform mechanical assembly (couplings, gearboxes, bearings, guards, conveyors, pumps, motors).
- Execute miscellaneous framing (wood / metal) and light carpentry as needed for installations.
- Operate tools / equipment safely and maintain a clean, organized work area (LOTO, fall protection, housekeeping).
- Document work (measurements, alignment readings, QA checks) and communicate progress with supervision.
- Support startup / commissioning and punch-list closeout.
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent.Accredited millwright apprenticeship or 5+ years relevant millwright / mechanical installation experience.Proficiency reading drawings and using precision measuring / alignment tools.Demonstrated safe rigging and hoisting practices.Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, work at heights, and in industrial environments.Authorization to work in the U.S. (I-9 compliant).Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.Preferred
Precision alignment experience (laser and dial indicator).Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and aerial lifts.Basic electrical familiarity (motors, sensors, control panels) for installation interfaces.Welding experience (Stick / MIG / TIG) and basic metal fabrication.Experience with equipment foundations (anchors, epoxy / grout, pads).OSHA-10 / 30, NCCER Millwright, and / or Qualified Rigger / Signalperson certifications.Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.Company Description
