Maintenance Assistant
The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Assistant is to ensure the proper upkeep of the agency and / or facility by performing general maintenance and repairs to the building, grounds, and equipment. Additionally, the Maintenance Assistant may be required to handle janitorial duties as needed.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine building maintenance duties such as painting, minor carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical, HVAC, landscaping, etc.
- Clean and maintain the interior / exterior of building or facility
- Create, prioritize, manage, and complete work order requests
- Receive and assemble merchandise, office furniture, wallboards, storage racks, etc.
- Maintain and perform scheduled routine preventive maintenance on equipment and agency vehicles
- Perform partial maintenance after hours to prevent disruption of business activities or operation
- Ensure the interior and exterior of the building and property is free of hazards
- Respond to emergency calls after scheduled work hours as needed
- Coordinate and assist with janitorial duties
- Other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years of age or older per licensing requirementAbility to prioritize and complete assigned tasks and unplanned requests during shiftAbility to handle emergencies with or without limited supervisionAbility to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to assemble using written instructionsAbility to see the differences in colors, shades, and brightness; ability to see objects in very bright or dim lightWorking knowledge of building maintenance procedures and techniquesAbility to operate and handle machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for maintenance and repairPreferred Qualifications

This position will require constant bending, kneeling, twisting, stretching, and reaching, climbing up and down ladders, frequent walking, occasional sitting, and standing for long periods of timePosition works in a child facility and has constant exposure to childrenPosition requires frequent standing, walking and time in units / cottages which are areas where children resideLift, push, pull, move up to 50 lbs.May be required to apply safety intervention with youth that could weigh over 100lbs.The physical requirements for this position with or without reasonable accommodation are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this position successfully.
