Civil Engineering Project Lead – Electric Utilities
Location : Pomona, CA (Hybrid, on-site 2 days / wk)
Job Type : Contract
Length : 18-Months
Hours : 40 hours / wk, 8 hours / day
Pay Rate : $80.00 - $109.80 per hour
Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership : Lead civil engineering efforts across all project phases—scoping, design, cost estimation, scheduling, and construction support.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with internal teams (project management, construction, environmental, real estate) and external agencies.
- Field Engagement : Conduct job walks and provide engineering construction support across diverse geographical areas for Transmission, Substation and Distribution facilities. Can be 1–2 field days per week based on business need.
- Contractor Oversight : Manage civil engineering consultants—define scopes, review proposals, ensure quality, and maintain schedules.
- Quality Assurance : Perform QA for consultant deliverables, peer reviews, manage purchase orders, and approve invoices.
- Permitting & Compliance : Secure necessary permits and approvals from local jurisdiction agencies for civil engineering scope and work with business partners to support state, federal and other agency approvals.
- Project Management : Balance multiple project schedules, provide technical leadership for civil engineering scope, monitor budgets and provide proactive communication with key stakeholders.
- Safety : Embed safety into engineering designs and promote a safety-first culture both in the office and on-site.

Experienced in land development for electrical substation facilities and transmission access in varied terrainFamiliarity with road and highway designFamiliarity with storm damage response and mitigationSkilled in contractor management and purchase order oversightKnowledge of California permitting processesMaster's degree in Civil Engineering or related fieldExperience with ArcGISBenefits
