Description :

SLPs are involved in efforts to prevent academic failure through various initiatives.

SLPs use evidence-based practices in their prevention approaches.

They conduct assessments in collaboration with others to identify students with communication disorders.

SLPs inform instruction and intervention based on these assessments.

Intervention provided by SLPs is tailored to the age and learning needs of each student.

The selection of intervention is based on evidence-based decision-making processes.

Service delivery models in school settings are diverse, with clinical therapy techniques used for students with disabilities.

SLPs are responsible for designing schoolwide programs that include a continuum of service delivery models in the least restrictive environment.

They provide services to other students as appropriate.

Data collection and analysis are essential responsibilities for SLPs, as they are accountable for student outcomes.

This includes gathering and interpreting data with individual students, as well as overall program evaluation.

SLPs must adhere to federal and state mandates, as well as local policies, in the performance of their duties.

Activities may include development of Individualized Education Programs, report writing, and therapy log development.
