JOB SUMMARY
The Production Manager coordinates facility activities across all departments to ensure efficient operations, optimal product quality, and compliance with safety and food safety standards. This role leads production scheduling, supervises staff, and partners closely with leadership to achieve company goals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plan and coordinate facility activities across all departments through direct supervision or subordinate managers.
- Create production orders and schedules, determining product types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates to align with operational demands.
- Collaborate with the Director of Plant Management to develop blending, production, and sanitation schedules that meet production and quality specifications.
- Establish manufacturing priorities and sequences, utilizing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to optimize operations.
- Review production and operating reports, identifying and resolving operational challenges to minimize costs and prevent delays.
- Enforce all Human Safety, Quality, and Food Safety procedures and policies, including compliance with HACCP standards and documentation.
- Inspect machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance and maximum utilization.
- Lead weekly staff meetings with department managers and coordinate shift transition meetings for seamless communication.
- Oversee employee training and develop educational materials for production staff.
- Address employee concerns, partnering with the Director of Manufacturing and HR as necessary.
- Compile, store, and retrieve production data and reports; complete required production reporting promptly and accurately.
- Monitor daily attendance, communicate updates to Payroll, and maintain compliance with workplace policies.
- Foster a clean, safe, and organized workplace in accordance with company guidelines.
- Operate equipment as needed to support production requirements.
- Interview, hire, train, and develop staff; assign and direct work; evaluate performance; and administer disciplinary action when necessary.
- Manage competing priorities and respond effectively to changes, delays, or unexpected events.
- Collaborate with the operations team to resolve customer issues, ensuring timely responses and accurate administrative follow-through.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education / Experience :Bachelor’s degree in a related field or technical school preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience required, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.Bottling industry experience is a plus.Must have leadership experience running / managing a department and full production line.Technical Skills :Must be computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, inventory software, and warehouse management systems (WMS).
Knowledge of ERP systems, order processing software, and handheld scanning devices preferred.Strong mathematical skills, including ability to calculate percentages, proportions, and interpret statistical data.Leadership & Communication :Exceptional problem-solving abilities, sound judgment, and decision-making skills.
Ability to read, interpret, and present production schedules, reports, and procedural manuals.Skilled in writing clear reports and speaking effectively to employees and customers.Physical Demands :Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks requiring bending, twisting, pushing, and pulling.
