Mainframe IMS Administrator contract opportunity available on-site with our client

in Plano, Texas.

We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe IMS Administrator to join our clients team. This role involves maintaining, supporting, and optimizing IMS database systems and related infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of IMS administration, performance tuning, debugging, and incident / change management processes.

Responsibilities :

  • Administer and support Mainframe IMS database systems and supporting tools
  • Install, configure, and fine-tune IMS environments
  • Perform complex database changes and manage application implementations
  • Analyze, test, and implement changes to database software and data structures
  • Provide performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting
  • Work within incident and change management frameworks
  • Mentor junior database administrators
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to resolve data flow and integration issues
  • Conduct proactive maintenance and ensure system integrity and performance

Qualifications :

  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in Mainframe IMS Administration
  • Deep technical knowledge of IMS systems, debugging, and problem resolution
  • Strong background in complex database support activities and change management
  • Experience in performance tuning and maintenance of large-scale IMS environments
  • Solid understanding of database relationships, integration, and infrastructure collaboration

    • Preferred Experience :

  • 15+ years of overall experience in mainframe environments is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring junior DBAs and leading critical IMS initiatives

    • Education :

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
