Assistant Director
Job Summary
Responsible for key communication projects that reach broad external and internal audiences. Collaborating with others across the organization, the person in this role has a broad understanding of the organization and the background to help craft and guide key messages. Brings exceptional writing and editing skills to the role and provides advice, consultation and review for other key communication products and channels produced by the department. Provides communication support for both strategic initiatives and operational topics guidance on message development and tactics to help effectively convey important and sensitive information. Interacts with executive leadership, physician leaders, managers, and staff throughout the organization, as well as in the community at large on a wide variety of topics and issues. Part of the team for interaction with the news media and other external audiences. Must be well organized, diplomatic, and able to manage multiple projects and meet multiple deadlines.
Position Specific Essential Functions
- Plans and executes communications by researching, writing and editing articles, news releases, statements, and announcements for online, printed and social platforms. Review materials for copyediting and adherence to corporate branding and style standards. Coordinates and develops scripts for video projects. Writes, edits, and coordinates production for various publications and marketing / public relations materials (articles, blogs, website copy, brochures, flyers, direct mail, invitations, etc.) for internal and external audiences.
- Contributes to employee engagement by planning and implementing an internal communication program. Identify internal / organizational communication gaps and opportunities and propose solutions. Assists in supporting and mentoring employees within the marketing department.
- Assists in generating and implementing marketing strategies and tactics to achieve organizational objectives.
- Assists with managing media requests, media pitches, media responses and statements, and media and filming crew escorts.
- Supports the communication needs of organizational strategic initiatives and department requests through effective planning, coordination, and execution and monitors project deadlines for consistent delivery.
- Develops and maintain excellent working relationship with a variety of stakeholders across the organization. Works closely with stakeholders to meet strategic objectives, project goals, and deadlines. Provide concise project updates and progress reports for all assigned projects.
