Specialist- Risk And Claims
Reporting to the Sr. Human Resources Director, the Risk & Claims Specialist plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the organization against financial losses while ensuring a safe and compliant environment for employees and members.
This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of claims management and risk mitigation, most notably General Liability and Workers' Compensation.
Acting as the central point of contact, the Specialist drives proactive strategies, coordinates across business units, and ensures claims are resolved effectively and efficiently.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Claims Management : Lead the administration of Workers' Compensation and General Liability claims, from intake to resolution, while continually improving program effectiveness.
- Vendor & Franchise Liaison : Partner with external vendors, Headquarters, and franchise operations to ensure compliance, resolve claims, and clarify agreements.
- Investigations : Conduct thorough claim investigations, recommend coverage decisions, and implement effective resolution strategies.
- Loss Prevention : Analyze injury and loss reports to uncover trends, identify root causes, and implement prevention programs that reduce future risk.
- Third-Party Oversight : Manage Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) to ensure quality service delivery under Workers' Compensation and Liability policies.
- Legal & Litigation Support : Coordinate with defense counsel, manage litigation strategies, and monitor costs while ensuring compliance with broker and organizational guidelines.
- OSHA Compliance : Administer OSHA-related claims and ensure timely, accurate reporting to regulatory agencies.
- Collaboration : Build strong relationships with business leaders, provide expert risk guidance, and deliver consistent results aligned with company goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred.35 years of claims experience, with exposure to employee relations, member incidents, and litigation.Strong knowledge of accident / incident handling and claims processes.Exceptional communication skillswritten, verbal, and interpersonal.Proficiency in legal research, claims documentation, and Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.Demonstrated relationship management skills and a collaborative, team-focused mindset.Work Environment & Location
Location : Rosemont, ILHybrid Schedule : Two days per week in-office (Tuesday & Thursday), with flexibility for additional on-site needs.Work Style : Full-time, exempt role, MondayFriday, with occasional weekend requirements based on business needs.Travel : Minimal.This role offers the chance to directly influence risk management practices while partnering with leaders across the business.
