Description :
Day Center Direct Support Professional play a crucial role in assisting individuals with disabilities, helping them lead independent and fulfilling lives through various support tasks.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assisting with Daily Living Activities : DSPs help individuals with personal care tasks such as meal preparation, toileting, assisting with eating, etc.
- Health Monitoring : DSPs monitor the health and well-being of the individuals they support, reporting any changes in behavior or physical health to appropriate personnel. They may also assist with medication administration and ensure that individuals adhere to their health plans.
- Behavioral Support and Skill Development : They help develop and implement behavior plans, teaching self-care skills and promoting independence. This includes encouraging individuals to express their personal goals and choices, fostering self-advocacy.
- Documentation and Reporting : Maintaining accurate records of services provided, including progress notes and incident reports, is essential for ensuring continuity of care and compliance with regulations.
- Advocacy : DSPs advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with disabilities, helping them access resources and services that promote independence and community inclusion.
- Activity supports : attend outings and special events to assist individuals with activities such as photography, crafts, bowling, games, etc.
Required task may include but is not limited to the following :
Grooming and bathing consumers with low mobilityHelping participants eat and take medicationsMaking sure they have regular meals and proper medication dosagesMonitoring vitals and patient behavior and reporting them to managementAssisting consumers with mobility needs, transferring them from wheelchair to bedExercising patients by helping them walkTransporting consumers to activities in the communityAssisting consumers with daily tasksDaily Scheduling : Monday through Friday 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM

Skills and Qualifications
Interpersonal Skills : Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills are vital for building trust and rapport with individuals.Direct Support Professionals are essential in empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives, making their role both impactful and rewarding.Experience cooking, cleaning, and working with adults with special needs is preferred.Valid driver's license with ability to drive large van or bus.
