Position Summary

Minimum of one year in acute hospital base experience. Under the supervision of the Nuclear Medicine Physician, prepares, calibrates, logs, and administers radioactive isotopes to patients undergoing a variety of nuclear medicine procedures. Operates Gamma Camera imaging equipment, computers, and other isotope sensitive equipment to obtain a visual representation or measurement or isotope concentration in specific body areas / organs. Applies good interpersonal and communication processes utilizing verbal and non-verbal skills.

Essential Job Functions And Core Responsibilities

• Attends continuing education as required to maintain State license. Attends in-service classes as assigned.
• Complies with all departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Documents unusual situations.
• Demonstrates requested anatomy through selection and administration of isotopes, proper positioning and effective use of equipment.
• Documents unusual conditions and / or limitations, records time examination completed, and technologist identification.
• Effectively uses the Information Systems programs.
• Lifts and transfers patients.
• Maintains compliance with State and Federal regulations relating to the use of radioactive materials.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient care and medical record information.
• Maintains nuclear medicine logs as needed.
• Monitors supply usage, orders replacements as needed.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.
• Performs safety inspection of equipment prior to initial use. Reports unsafe acts or conditions to department management. Complies with all safety and infection control policies.
• Possess the skills and knowledge needed to access the condition of the pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patient(s). Provides educational information to family members as required.
• Responsible for understanding and participating in the organization-wide Quality Improvement Program through orientation, education, departmental and interdepartmental quality control, quality improvement, and quality planning activities.
• Reviews Nuclear Medicine requisition, verifies examination, obtains patient history and checks for special instructions. Greets patients, verifies their identity, and explains procedure utilizing Aidet for Patient Satisfaction.

The hourly rate range for this position is $52.58- $70.68.
