Ultratec, Inc., located on Madison's west side, is the worldwide leader in developing new technologies for the deaf and hard-of-hearing population. Our equipment is recognized as the standard for excellence in text telecommunications, including our revolutionary Captioned Telephone (CapTel) product.

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on IT Manager to join our team. This role is a blend of technical expertise and people leadership - perfect for someone who enjoys both rolling up their sleeves to troubleshoot and mentoring a high-performing IT team.

What You'll Do :

Lead, manage, and mentor IT Service Desk staff - set clear expectations, provide coaching, and drive performance.

Oversee enterprise technology infrastructure, including user devices, networking, ERP systems, business applications, and cloud platforms.

Maintain cybersecurity policies, licensing compliance, and network security appliances (firewalls, switches, routers).

Serve as escalation point for critical issues and lead root cause analysis for major incidents.

Manage IT budget, procurement, and asset management.

Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Collaborate with leadership to align IT strategy with overall company goals.

Participate in 24 / 7 on-call rotation for urgent escalations.

What We're Looking For :

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).

10+ years of IT operations experience, with at least 3 years leading a team.

Hands-on skills in systems administration, cybersecurity, networking, and endpoint support.

Proven ability to address performance issues and foster a culture of accountability.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Excellent communication skills - able to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.

Must be able to report on-site at our Madison, WI facility within 30 minutes for critical incidents.
