Job Description : Quality Engineer

Location : Miami Lakes, FL 33014

Business Unit : Quality Assurance

Reports To : Quality Manager

Employees at this Location : 160

Salary Range : $80K – $100K (based on experience)

Position Overview

The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing process control programs to ensure production of finished goods that meet or exceed customer-specified requirements. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional with a strong background in automotive manufacturing and injection molding.

As a key member of the Quality Assurance team, the Quality Engineer will act as a change agent, driving continuous improvement initiatives and leading root cause problem-solving efforts. This position will also serve as a liaison between internal teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure compliance with IATF 16949 standards and customer quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure products meet all customer quality requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee quality processes, including :

oAPQP – Advanced Product Quality Planning

oPPAP – Production Part Approval Process

oSPC – Statistical Process Control

o8D – Eight Disciplines Problem Solving

  • Participate in Control Plan development and ensure proper documentation.
  • Conduct internal audits to verify compliance with IATF 16949 standards.
  • Identify and report quality issues or trends while recommending corrective actions.
  • Continuous Improvement & Problem-Solving

  • Lead plant-wide continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma tools and methodology.
  • Utilize structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, 3-Legged 5 Whys, and Ishikawa (Fishbone) Diagrams to address recurring issues.
  • Analyze production data to identify root causes and implement long-term preventive solutions.
  • Deliver internal quality and process improvement training to employees across the organization.
  • Customer & Supplier Relations

  • Act as a key point of contact for customers and suppliers regarding quality concerns.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints through effective corrective action plans.
  • Interpret customer-specific quality requirements and ensure consistent application.
  • Support customer and supplier audits as required.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all Occupational Safety and Health policies and procedures.
  • Report any safety concerns or deficiencies immediately to leadership.
  • Comply with company-wide Human Resources and Quality Assurance policies.
  • Qualifications

    Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field, or five (5) years of equivalent Quality Engineering experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of automotive industry experience.
  • Proven injection molding experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bilingual – English & Spanish (fluent verbal and written communication).
  • Required Skills

  • Strong root cause analysis and structured problem-solving skills using 8D, 3-Legged 5 Whys, and Ishikawa diagrams.
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with APQP, PPAP, SPC, and other quality core tools.
  • Solid computer proficiency and experience with quality management systems.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to travel as needed for audits, training, and customer support.
  • Preferred Skills

  • Six Sigma certifica
