Description :

This role involves working in Labor and Delivery.

The unit has 8 L&D beds with 6 overflow beds.

There are 7 triage beds available for assessment.

The postpartum area has 40 beds for mothers and babies, as well as antepartum and GYN patients.

The unit handles approximately 1800 to 2000 births per year.

The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 2 during labor, 1 : 1 for delivery, and 1 : 3 in triage.

In the mother / baby postpartum area, the ratio is 1 : 4 couplets.

Charting is conducted using a Cerner system.

Charge nurses may take patient assignments.

Nurse aides and OB technicians provide support for patient care in Labor and Delivery.

Weekend requirements include every other weekend.

Holidays are rotated with core staff members.

The scrub color provided for Labor and Delivery staff will be designated.

Telemetry may be required on mothers, but nurses are not responsible for fetal monitoring strips.

Vents are not used; there are on-call OB / Neonatologist, Anesthesia, and Neonatologist services available 24 / 7.

Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy services are also accessible 24 / 7.

Shifts available are from 6 : 30 AM to 7 : 00 PM and 6 : 30 PM to 7 : 00 AM.

Experience with C-sections is mandatory.

The nurse will attend to common diagnoses such as standard labor, multiples, high-risk cases, vacuum-assisted births, and VBACs.

This facility is baby-friendly.

Nurse support includes Labor and Delivery RNs, NICU RNs, and Respiratory Therapy during C-sections.

Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled per 13-week assignment.
