The Defense Contract Specialist has a critical role within Heckler & Koch Defense as the primary support for the front-line Business Development Managers. The DCS will be responsible for coordinating all administrative and order support for the Heckler & Koch Defense business.
The DCS will work closely with the Business Development Managers including supporting trade shows, demonstrations, and customer visits. They will interface with both customer and internal management to the highest levels and must be capable of positively representing the “No Compromise” approach in all aspects of Customer Service.
Essential Functions :
- Assists with contracts and serves as the focal point for back-office sales support for LE, MIL, and Federal contracts
- Develop quotes and assist with proposals for all Defense, LE, & Federal government customers.
- Coordinates, processes, and monitors all Test & Evaluation requests for Heckler & Koch Defense customers.
- Input orders and monitor orders through internal processes to delivery.
- Assists, in coordination with Sales & Business Development, the publishing of formal price lists.
- Coordinate with HK Germany on order status, timing, and delivery.
- Reviews of contracts, catalog terms and conditions.
- Identify risks or problems and notify Business Development Managers of challenges with proposed solutions.
- Follow up on all aspects of company Defense, Federal, and LE contracts.
- Input all necessary data into the Government systems IT tools to create invoices.
- Act as a liaison with WAWF and coordinate billing.
- Maintain monthly spread sheets required and provide updates related to order and pipeline status.
- Generate HKD reports as directed with data from internal and external systems
- Act as gatekeeper for the defense business to support the program manager and Business Development Managers
- Attend and provide support for all shows and demonstrations to include live fire and necessary administration duties related.

This position will interact with key stakeholders across all departments and functions within the company.Attention to detail and ability to assess impacts of key decisions to people, processes, and products.Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions in consultation with stakeholders.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to handle stress of deadlines, including deadlines set by the employee on coworkers.Must possess excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, ERP systems such as SAP, and mobile communications technologies.Specific knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ERP systems is required.Must be able to safely operate and demonstrate the use of company products, including firearms.Educational / Experience Requirements :
Prior experience working with government contracts and logistics along with their softwareWorking knowledge of firearms required.Knowledge of HK weapons products and parts breakdowns preferred.Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.Prior service within the military or law enforcement preferred.
