Job Summary And Qualifications
SUMMARY OF DUTIES :
Responsible for assessing proposed study protocols and for the coordination and implementation of all nursing and administrative activities related to clinical trials. Performs within the parameters for which he or she is qualified by education, training, experience and licensure.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO :
Coordinates all research study activities with the Principal Investigator and has direct nursing care responsibilities.Coordinates and manages clinical studies according to OHRP and FDA regulations, as well as, ICH Good Clinical Practices and IRB requirements.Develops tactical study proceduresDevelops any necessary study documents not provided by sponsor or IRBEducates HCA staff regarding research and study protocolsScreens and recruits patients based on protocol criteriaExplains study protocols, procedures and treatments to patients and familiesConducts the Informed Consent process in conjunction with study investigatorsEnsure that an original copy of any subjects Informed Consent Document is the in the research binders, as well as, a copy on the subject's medical record.May function as Primary Coordinator for research studiesResponsible for all investigational drug accountability and dispensingCoordinates with Pharmacist if on Delegation LogAdministers Investigational Drug as per protocolServe as a resource for department members for medical interpretations of research process and protocol specificsAssess each proposed study protocol with critical analysis of potential implementation and patient careDedicate to creative / innovative growth of research in the divisionAcquire continuing education pertinent to research and applicable licensed professionResponsible for maintaining good clinical practice standards, addressing non-compliance issues, developing corrective action plansExecute medical orders within parameters of education, training and licensureConduct study activities helping to ensure all safety parametersInvestigational device accounting and dispensingFacilitate administrative review and approval of proposed studiesProvide / coordinate the highest level of contact, counseling and support servicesCoordinate study activities and patient care with medical staff (cardiologist and PCP, etc.)Implement and adhere to study protocolPerform Phlebotomy and IV proceduresPrepare laboratory specimens for analysis, monitoring tests and procedures, shipping frozen specimensMaintain patient records in EMR and appropriate hospital recordsAssess and report adverse study events, included to the IRB and any research sponsorsComplete all paperwork affiliated with the study, including but not limited to the requirements of the facility, the IRB and the study SponsorMaintain copies of all research related correspondenceConduct study activities helping to ensure all safety parametersMaintain professional relationships with sponsors, Clinical Research Organizations, research teams, pharmacies, laboratories, IRB's, and hospitals for the coordination of research activitiesReview research and pertinent journals, abstracts and scientific literaturePractice and adhere to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and "Mission and Value Statement".EDUCATION :Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or other health related field - requiredEXPERIENCE :Minimum of two years' experience in area of research specialty required.Minimum of two years clinical research experience.CERTIFICATION / LICENSE :Licensed RNCCRC is preferredBLS Certification; ACLS preferredActively maintained CCRC (Certified Clinical Research Coordinator) preferredKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :Demonstrated leadership skillsOutstanding technical writing skills and understanding of medical terminology / researchExceptional organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skillsAbility to communicate effectively with patients, clinical and administrative staff and the publicAbility to understand and follow complex, detailed technical instructionsAbility to foster a cooperative work environmentAbility to maintain quality, safety, and / or infection control standardsAbility to understand and follow basic scientific research protocol and procedureAbility to handle multiple priorities at once with minimal supervision.Highly proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint), email, internetAdvanced understanding of data management processesAbility to analyze and interpret scientific data and skilled in the use of computerized systems and databases.Knowledge of government regulations and compliance issues regarding clinical research and protection of human subjects (e.g. "Common Rule", "GCP", etc.)Knowledge of medical coding and billing procedures in a physician practice setting.Supporting HCA Healthcare's 186 hospitals and 2,400+ sites of care, Physician Services plays a crucial role as the main entry point for patients looking for high-quality healthcare within the HCA Healthcare system.
