Project Engineer

Genesis10 is seeking a Project Engineer – Mechanical for a 6-month contract position with a client located in Milwaukee, WI.

Summary : The Project Engineer – Mechanical leads and manages an engineering team responsible for the design, validation, and support of complex components for heavy-duty vehicles.

This role focuses on driving continuous improvement, fostering innovation, and making critical technical decisions that impact engineering initiatives.

The engineer will provide high-level technical mentorship, oversee project execution, and collaborate across internal and external teams to deliver next-generation vehicle systems and components.

Responsibilities : Manage an engineering team consisting of Engineers, Designers, and Technicians.

Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of the engineering team.

Provide coaching, feedback, and development for team members through training, mentorship, and career development plans.

Prepare and control department budget, including forecasting operating costs and submitting budget requests.

Demonstrate business acumen, including understanding product line market share and P&L impact.

Collaborate and build relationships with internal stakeholders, external customers, and suppliers.

Present and defend technical decisions to leadership and customers.

Ensure projects or portions of projects are completed on time and within scope.

Manage multiple priorities, schedules, and budgets as needed.

Perform advanced engineering calculations, design validation, and analysis according to industry standards.

Prepare and deliver project documentation, technical proposals, reports, and presentations.

Ensure compliance with engineering criteria, drawing standards, company policies, and safety requirements.

Provide mentorship to entry-level engineers and guidance on technical best practices.

Research, create, and update standard engineering methodology and procedures.

Support production with technical troubleshooting and resolution of complex issues.

Participate in capital planning, including recommending and justifying improvements.

Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.

Maintain effective communication with suppliers, customers, and other resources regarding technical matters.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and five (5) or more years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment and systems.

Experience with advanced CAD systems.

Only candidates available and ready to work directly as Genesis10 employees will be considered for this position.

Able to work as a W2 employee of Genesis10 (no corp to corp).
