JOB SUMMARY : The primary role of the Medical Assisting Instructor is to be responsible for preparing and delivering didactic and practical clinical / lab education for certified clinical medical assisting students.
JOB SPECIFIC CORE COMPETENCIES :
- Demonstrates being a content expert in National Healthcareer Association curriculum for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant credential.
- Able to independently prepare, teach, and evaluate students in didactic, lab and clinical aspects of the certified clinical medical assistant curriculum.
- Maintains AHA certifications as provider and instructor for disciplines taught.
- Able to independently prepare, teach, and evaluate AHA courses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES : The Medical Assisting Instructor is :
Responsible for developing lessons and classroom experiences for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant program in conjunction with the approved curriculum published by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with course objectives.Responsible for developing / maintaining course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Responsible for maintaining accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.Instruct students in didactic, lab, and clinical settings.Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Hancock Health.Shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.EXPECTED BEHAVIORS :
Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, comply with institutional policies, guidelines, and expectations.Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time is required.Ability to handle high stress situations as they occur.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
Possesses an earned associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited institutionHas a minimum of 2-years of direct work experience as a medical assistant or as an RN or LPN in an ambulatory care setting where they performed administrative, clinical, and laboratory duties as outlined in the CCMA (NHA) curriculum standardsADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : Mandatory Continuing Education : Customer Service, Fire and Safety, Corporate Compliance (including Confidentiality), Infection Control, and education required by regulatory, accreditation bodies, scope of practice, and / or Hancock Regional Hospital.
Current professional certification in the field (CMA, CCMA, or RMA)Completed academic preparation appropriate to the CCMA course being taughtAHA BLS Provider and InstructorOne of the following :Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution
Holds a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education in any Health ScienceENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS : The company will make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.
