Overview
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) Undergraduate Programs is the central hub for supporting students and instructors through academic advising, student retention and recruitment activities, and services related to academic policies and curriculum (majors, minors, certificates and the general education program). The Director for CLAS Advising and Recruitment will report to the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education and will lead a team of more than 30 professional academic advising staff and a small team of collegiate recruitment staff who work closely with the Office of Admissions. The CLAS Academic Advising and Recruitment teams work with all CLAS academic programs and departments to help students learn about and select programs of study and to support them as they progress through their academic programs and toward graduation. This role will provide strategic leadership for the academic advising and recruitment teams, including setting goals, standards, and assessment procedures for the work of the teams, and will oversee strategic planning, priority setting and budgeting. The director will represent CLAS on institutional committees and partner with campus offices such as the Academic Advising Center, the Office of Admissions, and the Office of Student Learning. The Director will supervise two Associate Directors of Advising and the CLAS Admissions Manager and will be part of the CLAS UP leadership team.
